June 29th, 2026 - Happy Anniversary KDR!
HAPPY 5 YEARS! It's been a blessing and a curse working on this format all this time, many many late nights put in to try and get an update done, arguments about what was good and bad, and absolutely 0 instances of breaking the format!
The 5th Anniversary patch is special, as you've probably figured out by just how much we're adding. No longer going under the name of "KDR 2.1", the update really is worthy of being KDR 3.
Goals for the patch? More classes, more mechanics, more fun! Strap in for some loooong patch notes.
CHRONOMANCER & ASTROMANCER
Astromancer & Chronomancer are coming as a new version of our OLD PENDULUM CLASS "Jester"- out with the clunky clowns and in with some good ol' pendslop. Chronomancer can rewind time, returning Pendulums from the field or face-up Extra Deck back to the hand, while Astromancer gets to play a little bit of Master Rule 3- with a catch! It gets to pendulum summon from banishment! Anotherverse Gluttonia gluttonously devours other Pendulums, banishing them to another plane, where you can call them back into action from the banish zone for a huge push onto the board!

MECHA
Mecha is a sub-class for Cyborg! This class enables the unused Union sub-theme that Cyborg has had in its loot, allowing for an insanely consistent set up for the VWXYZ cards! With a powerful, non-OPT section of its skill allowing you to cycle through multiple mech parts all at once! Check this subclass out below!
DRAGON TAMER & RYUJIN
Dragon Tamer & Ryujin are another two new classes- one themed around the Baby Dragon and Thousand Dragon you know and love, and the other based around calling for a Divine Omen and summoning powerful dragons through your tributes! Raise your Baby Dragon with your "Dragon Daycare" skill- protect it and nurse it well, and it grows into a Thousand Dragon! Thousand Dragon uses his wisdom from his years alive to raise the new generation of dragons, making each generation stronger than the last! Ryujin can tribute summon dragons from the deck- enough said! Check out these classes below!
ANGEL
Angel is another sub-class- this time for Priest- bringing back the theme with "Wingweaver" as your legendary monster! This monster lets you draw until you have 7 cards in your hand, refueling for a huge explosion of value, blessed from your commitment to the angelic religious figure of Wingweaver! LIZARDMAN
Lizardman revisits from years past- revitalizing its old skill with a new loot pool! Oldheads might remember the power of having a super large legendary monster in the form of Gogiga Gagagiga, but with increased removal and more options available to players at the start, he's finally able to make his grand return
SLIME
Slime time! This Mimic subclass, takes a different approach - absorbing your opponent's! Every single round, you steal whatever is in their inventory and add it to your own, including their Class Uniques! This means that you get their Legendary Quest, Relic, Monster, and Unique Skill! When you perform your shop phase (yes, Slime has a shop phase) you get to choose loot as if you were your last opponent's class! Looks like you're able to even fool the shopkeepers! The wind bellows across the sands- you drag your feet, the rolling grains of sand shifting underfoot as you climb one last dune- your hands shielding your eyes, you can hardly believe what you're seeing until step over the rounded margin of the incline- a city, shimmering with gold and glimmering with the fluttering leaves of trees- water babbles on the borders of streets, children play in and out of the spotted cover of the blissful shade- until the people see you. They welcome you with cheers and open arms- not often does one find their way through these dunes, and they chatter in hushed tones and jealous glances as they usher you to the center of the city. What will you find- here in this city of gold?
CLASS SELECTION
We've got updates for the start of your KDR! The addition of getting a Starter Pack loot pool was well received, and now we're expanding on it more, hoping to give some additional variety to Round 1.
STARTING SKILL
After picking your Starter Pack, you'll be given 3 Generic Skills to pick from!
NEW - GENERIC QUESTS
Generic Quests are back! These are an old mechanic from the first iteration of KDR, updated to fit better with our modern version. You'll get one of these Quests when you pick your class, and that's it. You have the first 6 rounds to try and complete it to earn the reward.
INVENTORY / SHOP
As you may have seen in the teasers, your inventory is no longer a Google Sheets you have to manually manage. All the loot you receive is automatically added to your inventory page! This will hopefully make it a lot easier for people to know what they're playing against, especially when SOME people don't add to their sheet (you know who you are). The first person to @JustBryant with their favorite dinosaur gets to pick their class (not you Luna).
We've also got a visual page for the Shop! If you struggle with figuring out what cards you've actually been offered, you can open up the page to look at images of the cards in each pool. Some nice QOL features.
STATS - UNCAPPED
Stats have been freed! You can invest more than 12 points into a single stat now, go ahead, make your Deck as small as possible with INT maxing. Or gain 6 rerolls with CHA. Rerolls?
CHA - You can reroll your shown loot one time per every 3 CHA you have.
Charisma has finally got its update! If you feel like investing the stat points for it, you can increase the chances of finding that one loot pool you want.
CLASS CHANGES
Alright new stuff out of the way, what balancing has been done eh?
Velociraptor - REWORK: A soft rework for our beloved dino boy! The class always felt really disjointed, the Skill, Quest, and Relic all had effectively nothing to do with each other. Now, it's a lot more cohesive, encouraging you to use your Skill as much as possible.

Dino DNA
Monsters in your possession are also treated as Dinosaur monsters. During your Battle Phase, you, the Velociraptor, gain 1500 ATK, plus 200 for each STR you have, and you can declare an attack as the Velociraptor on either player’s monsters, but you cannot attack directly. Monsters destroyed by this attack are treated as being destroyed by a card effect.
Legendary Quest
If you destroy an opponent’s monster with Dino DNA, you can Special Summon “Absolute King - Megaplunder” from your hand.
Legendary Relic
While you control "Absolute King - Megaplunder" you can declare a second attack per turn with Dino DNA. (Once per turn): During the End Phase, if you destroyed a monster with Dino DNA this turn, you can add 1 "Absolute King - Megaplunder" from your GY to your hand.
PRIEST
New cards! Swapping some of the starting cards Priest has to help lean into some of the Loot changes as well.
Added - "Bountiful Artemis", "Harvest Angel of Wisdom", "Layard the Liberator", "Valkyrie Vierte", "Valkyrie Dritte", "Ret-time Reviver Emit-ter", "Visas Samsara", "Mannadium Trisukta", "Valkyrie's Embrace", "Magic Drain", "Goblin Out of the Frying Pan", and "Parthian Shot" to the base inventory.
Removed - "Star Seraph Sovereignty", "Star Seraph Scepter", "Star Seraph Scale", "Star Seraph Scout", "Keldo", "Agido", "Buten", "Number 10: Illumiknight", and "Silver Bow and Arrow" from the base inventory.
GAMBLER - NERF
The good news is new Gambler is a lot better! Huzzah! But it's a little too strong and there's a few things we're doing to take it down a little.
Gateway Drug - You can only play 1 of each "Stacked Deck" card in your Deck.
Bringing back the old restriction here, it honestly felt a lot more flavourful this way and since your Class is not full of only terrible cards now, the extra copies of Stacked Decks really tips it over.
Gateway Drug - 3 Counters: Add 1 card with an effect that tosses a coin, rolls a die, or randomly discards a card from your Deck to your hand.
You can no longer search for "Slot Machine" with Gateway Drug. Just another situation where being able to search for your Legendary is too much.
NEPHALEM/PALADIN
Another class with some card changes! Nephalem/Paladin has received some nerfs within it's Loot (a pair of particularly strong cards found in one of the Starter Packs have been removed from it) and it's got some new cards to play around with in it's base.
Added - "Phantasos, the Dream Mirror Friend", "Phantasos, the Dream Mirror Foe", "Ikelos, the Dream Mirror Sprite", "Ikelos, the Dream Mirror Mara", "Maliss <P> White Rabbit", "Maliss <P> March Hare", "Dream Mirror of Joy", "Dream Mirror of Terror", and "Maliss <C> MTP-07" to the base inventory.
Removed - "Doomsday Horror", "Airknight Parshath", "Neo-Parshath, the Sky Paladin", and "Chaos Seed" from the base inventory.
CHEF - CLARIFICATION
There was some confusion with how Chef worked. The Skill wasn't really clear on it, and the Loot just doubled up on that uncertainty. Chef lets you either use Ritual Spells normally, or as a generic Ritual Spell through the Skill. It does not keep its effect if you choose to use the Skill.
MORE STUFF!
We've got even more changes happening across the Loot! A ton of new and improved Staple pools, and the return of Mr. Fiend himself in Engine!

KDR 3.0 changes so much about KDR, including switching to a new bot- this means that, fortunately or unfortunately, the leaderboards has been reset! Everyone starts at 1500MMR! Good luck climbing!
